Redstart no.174

Post by Boy John » Wed Nov 06, 2013 1:35 pm

Hello.
I have just become the new owner of Redstart sail no.174, I will be keeping her in Drummore SW Scotland and sailing her in Luce bay. I plan on trailing her up to the Clyde and the inner Hebrides next summer.
I wonder if anyone in the group can help me, the spreader base is broken and I am having trouble trying to find a new one, does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks John.

Hi John

I had the same problem and made an aluminium strap with lugs welded on it to take the spreaders.

Hi John,
I am going to my local blacksmiths first to see if he can repair the old one, if not then I will try and make one. I want to get it sorted as soon as possible so I can go for a sail.

Hi John,

Hope he can manage it. Welding aluminium seems to be a specialist job so you may have to search further.
