Forestay

Post by First One » Mon Apr 30, 2007 9:14 am

New to sailing, I have an early Swift, sail number 45, with a tapered mast.
Attachment of the forestay top eye to the mast is by 2 metal straps and 6 pop rivets. It appears to be the original fitting.

I realise if these rivets should fail, it would bring the mast down.

Please can anyone tell me if there is an alternative mod/fitting or if/when the pop rivets should be replaced.

Many thanks,

Les.
