Hi Peter, Rudyard is local to us also (Brown Edge) and we did go sailing on the lake many years ago in an enterprise sailing dinghy. We purchased the enterprise along with a tent for the purpose of trailer sailing and ended up in places such as Windermere,Llanbedrog,Bala,Shell Island, but found life...

Rudyard Lake

Had a stroll around Rudyard Lake (Leek) yesterday noticed a couple of Swift 18's moored on the Lake, nice day for a sail. For anyone visiting there is a pay and display car park right by the Lake we paid £1 for an hour. Gary

If its what I guessed it was then try and fix it, I would not advise sailing with a loose keel. The mechanism to my mind not only winds the keel up and down but also keeps it from swinging about which may cause damage if loose. Gary

Guessing you have wound the screw out to far and thereby relesed the keel, if so get a wire coat hanger or similar...pull the threaded bar out of the way and drive the boat up a gently sloping beach/forshore. As the keel comes up get a torch and the wire coat hanger and using surgeon like skills fer...

Lifting the Swift up off the trailer to check the keel

Allways a good subject for discussion and ideas this one. Instead of the usual blocks of wood and jack with paramedic on standby! #:-s I thought it would be good to try and invent something so for inspiration I trawled the net and found what I think could be the answer at www.portableboatlift.com if...

Just to finish off this story of the depth sounder, we decided to pop Cherry Pie back on to her trailer yesterday, in order to remove the faulty incastec transducer...all went well in replacing it with the new nasa transducer and we now have a functioning depth sounder. As a matter of interest I dis...

Re the mast..I would have thought your boat insurance would cover such an eventuality? no idea if the bunk would drain into the mini bilge but we do get a little water in there from time to time.

Not sure if this helps but we have a kind of mini bilge on Cherry Pie, take a look at or gallery their is a picture of it with the water tight lid taken off... we usually keep a piece of sponge in there and squeeze it out now and then.. it holds about a cupful of water..Gary

Fitted the new nasa depth sounder...it does'nt quite cover the hole left by the incastec so had to use a backing plate. Plugged in the old transducer left in situ and low and behold I got the error message OUT. So it looks like the transducer has failed...to fit the new nasa transducer would require...

Connected the nasa depth sounder to my spare incastec transducer and tested in a tub of water... works no problem,I will now have to see what size hole I have to work with when removing the old incastec depth sounder in order to fit the nasa product. If I were to use the nasa transducer it would req...
