Aries is finally ready to go and were heading to windermere this weekend till tuesday for first shakedown.
We havent got any mast raising system so having the ferry nab to lift the mast this time.
Ive heard there are a few swifts on windermere.
Is anybody planning to go to windermere who might have a stepping system in place where I could steal their idea in exchange for a copious amount of alcohol.
It would also be nice to meet any members out there.

129 Aries refurbished and heading to windermere this weekend
Hello
Welcome to Windermere!
You'll see 'Quadrille' (Swift18 s/n 60) moored just off the Lake Warden's office. You'd have been welcome to use her mast-raising A-frames but unfortunately I'll not be back in Cumbria until mid June.
There are some 6+ Swifts on or stored just off the lake but no real social/Swift sailing interaction - maybe we could remedy that?
Keep in touch and - good sailing!
Geoff Cook

On our Swift 18 SNIPE we hoist the mast with the boat on the trailer using the trailer winch attached to the bottom of the forestay. It requires on crew on the winch and the other lifting the mast and steadying it and watching that the shroud turnbuckles don’t capsize.

aries launch
Thanks to both.
Had one steep learning curve saturday but got there eventually.
We saw quadrille, lovely looking, had until tuesday with not much wind and then decided against the homeward maul.
Weve put aries on a holiday mooring for the month. This makes it easier to come every weekend and get used to the boat.
We met North star and had a chat. Will probably upgrade our engine for his this weekend all being well.
We wanted to stay but needed to come home during the week if only to stretch the back and legs. Wow its restricted to stay on board for 4 days.
The lads at ferry nab wardens office have been brilliant with help and advice also.
Hope we can meet up over the month. Like the idea of a barbie that everyone has on the top of the pontoon.

Well done! You're in good company there with the Lake Wardens and Brian from North Star.
Wherabouts is your holiday mooring?
Now we're back in this country, look forward to sailing in company, possibly?
Best regards
Geoff Cook

Hi
In last ten mins just got back home in Cumbria from Southampton.
'Fraid not available this Sat; and Sun doing safety boat for Arnside Sailing Club. Normally could manage sailing Q on Saturday.
P'raps you'll be using the Lake Warden's mast lift? Else I cd have left the alu A-frames,etc with Lake Wardens - two or three times I've had Q's mast down (and up again) on the swinging mooring.
Glad you got Brian's engine - it's a good one.
Hope to contact you and Aries soon.
Geoff
