Hi,
While browsing the membership list recently, I noticed a whole raft of new members in such countries as Ukraine, Germany, Benin and USA. Glad to hear the Swift community is spreading.... unless this is some scam to get our e-mails?

I'm afraid there are several bad guys within there new "members"...
I found that, by experience, you can find reports about their actvity, just typing their e-mail adress on Google. Then you have a list of "anti-scam forums" and I'm afraid most of them should be banned. However Germany is not impossible.

Hello Mr De Troy,

I'm not sure quite why I received this last message from you. Earlier today, I had asked a member of the Swift 18 website, with the user-name "Windsong", for any help he or she could give me, in respect of starting a new thread on the Swift forum. Later, I found how to do it without assistance. I hope mr windsong didn't assume my enquiry was in any way mischievous? And if you are a Swift 18 site administrator, I hope I haven't earned myself a bad reputation? My email to him, and this one to you, was based on a totally genuine query.

Thank you for your time,

Dan Crane

Hi,

This forum gets about 50 new member requests a day from the 'bad guys', the majority of which are automatically rejected by some filtering I have put in place which compares the member request against 'bad guy' databases. There are a few which get through, so once a month I go through and manually remove them. Although they are listed as new members they cannot actually post on the forum.

That's fine. Thanks. I'd no idea sites were under attack this way.
