repair for aluminium rudder stock weld

Post by S.VINCE » Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:58 pm

One of the welds on my rudder stock failed completely while sailing on the Solent. I have now fitted a hardwood strip in the gap to provide greater support, the problem has been solved without welding as the repair is stronger ! steve (photo attached)

The winter maintenance begins....

There are slight cracks in the welds in the aluminium rudder stock of
my Swift. Does anyone know anyone in the Essex Blackwater area who can
weld aluminium?

I have no luck yet.

Thanks

Chris
