Squeaky keel lifting

Post by Kevinbwilko » Tue Jun 14, 2011 7:14 pm

Half way through last season keel lift attachment collapsed and had to be rebuilt. Everything appeared to be regreased and before launch this year repacked grease however the bearings at top are squeaking somewhat. I have to raise keel for my mooring so a weekly exercise (Yes her indoors insists I play out at least once a week, lucky guy!!!!) Can they be greased whilst on water, assume WD40 not a good idea? Do I just ignore until end of season? Any suggestions greatly accepted!

Kevin,
If you're in shallow water, wind the keel down until its touches the bottom , then keep winding and the winding mechanism will rise up making everything accessible for greasing!
Good Luck.
Rob.

Great, my mooring is very shallow so will try on Saturday.
Thanks
