My Swift does not have a battery. It does however have a 12 volt depth sounder so I guess it has had a battery at some point. The sounder's power lead has a long cable with a cigar lighter attachment at the end of it, but no sign of where it leads to and therefore where the battery was located. Where do people put a battery in a Swift 18? I'm guessing under the sink. But I'd need to stop it from smashing into the inboard stub of the depth sounder sender (also under the sink)
Do people always fit a marine switch panel? Or can you get a fuse organiser and switches arrangement that bolts onto the positive battery terminal, (I think I must have seen one of these somewhere but can't remember where)

My battery is in the port rear locker, with the fuel tank in the starboard one.

I would have thought you'd want your water carriers under the sink! that's where mine are, and my battery is also in the port rear locker.
I guess it depends how many electrical items you've got as to whether you need a switch/fuse panel. I've got lights, (internal and nav) log/depth, radio and power sockets, so I've got a 6 position switch/fuse panel mounted on the aft cabin bulkhead. I've also got a solar panel on the hatch garage which keeps the battery topped up all season even in this last so called summer!!

Battery Fitting
Mine is insaide the port locker.My 43 Ah battery is almost an interference fit in a Maxibin 30 These are the strong boxes you use for rack storage in the garage. I bought mine from the local hardware shop.
The box then fits in to the space between the base of the cockpit and the sole(I think it is called) It is a good fit so only requires a small bracket to keep it in place. I had to cut off the one top edge of the plastic with a hacksaw

Sounds like port rear locker it is then. My outboard fuel tank is currently in there though so I'll have to find somewhere else for that, both in terms of space and the spark potential of connecting, disconnecting the battery!
On the starboard side I have the gas bottle, so that's probably not a great option either.
