Pieeater!
You're lucky to be able to sail in such a beautiful part of the country! Looks like you had some good weather too, how did you manage that last summer?
Nice to hear Runrig too!!

Jake, Have you read this thread on rudders? http://www.swift18.org/Swift18/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=828 As i say in the above thread, my rudder is made of ply, I can measure it for you if you want, its just outside in the garage. I also seem to remember seeing the dimensions on this forum somewhere bu...

Jake,
I think you will be out of luck trying to find a hull/sail number anywhere on your boat. Notice how many owners on the boat register don't know their sail number!
I was fortunate that my boat came with numbered sails.
Sorry

Jake, I would have thought you'd want your water carriers under the sink! that's where mine are, and my battery is also in the port rear locker. I guess it depends how many electrical items you've got as to whether you need a switch/fuse panel. I've got lights, (internal and nav) log/depth, radio an...

Hi all,
I notice that Sonar yachts and their swift18.net websites are no longer available, anyone know what's happened? Does this mean there wont be any new Swifts after all?

Hi James, I've just come back from my boat and looking at the genoa halyard sheave, there's no space between it and the top of the foil for a diverter block is there? Sorry I can't offer any more advice, unless you bring the halyard back down the foil to the eye on the drum as you would if you did n...

James, If you have the Rotostay that is fitted to most (early) Swifts, like this:- http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/UA7KT7nNwdGgJk3BVaY3w2Yv6qgOhwniSjAmSdEC92PyHHdE4CYp_-UCYksPuw5zAw7Sy1sJGaC8onTQiQdHmd7Pr7S17IiJ_jIqB3qMKXHzaxZfB8tyPCd1G0c/Rotostay4.JPG Then the halyard comes back down the foil and is s...

David, Look in the 'Library' section of this website, there are 2 types of 'A' frame explained in the 'Technical' section. Also read all the posts on this forum under 'Mast Erection'! You could do what you're suggesting if you have a helper to support the mast as it comes down. This is what is sugge...

Outboard well

Martin,
It depends how many crew you've got! It dosn't happen with one or two on board but I've had a small amount of water in the side channels of the cockpit with four adults in the cockpit! I've got duckboards, so it wasn't a problem anyway.
Cheers

Kevin,
If you're in shallow water, wind the keel down until its touches the bottom , then keep winding and the winding mechanism will rise up making everything accessible for greasing!
Good Luck.

Hi Garry, Yes I'm sure it does help, but I can't claim credit for the modification, it was like that when I bought Vega. The owner before me sailed out of Boston & i think the moorings were upsteam of a bridge! Its a pretty substantial stainless steel fabrication, goodness knows how much it cost!
