Re: Water in the bilges

I think the gap between the inner moulding and the hull is going to vary depending on where you measure.
Is it voids between both that contain water that is the issue?
Should it contain foam?

Re: Bunk cushion thickness and foam type

Hi Rob,
I think I will go for a good firm 3" foam.
Thanks,
Tom

Bunk cushion thickness and foam type

Hi,
What is the best thickness and type of foam for the bunks? I am thinking of 4" or 3". Given the limited head room when sitting down, which is best and which is normally used?

Steve,
Thanks for the reply. It would be great if you have a photo as I could see how much the cover need raising. Also, power wise, do you think it needs a 6?

Mariner or Tohatsu 4, 5 or 6hp

Hi I am considering buying an outboard for my Swift. I understand that the 4 stroke Mariner and Tohatsu are more or less the same. Does anyone know if they fit in the well? Also the 4,5 and 6 are the same size and weight. Any thoughts on which hosepower is most suited to the Swift. Obviously 6 beats...

Stanchion Bases

Hi,
I am looking for 4 stanchion bases for a Swift 18. It looks as if the originals were attached to the toe rails by two screws/bolts. Has anyone any info as to the manufacturer or where I could find them?

Thanks for the reply. It was actually the mast fitting that holds the sheaves and the backstay attachment point that I needed pictures of but o got them in the meantime.

Masthead Fitting

Hi,
I am restoring a Swift 18. The masthead fitting is missing. Does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like? Can the part be bought or will I need to have one fabricated? There are no Swifts close to me that I can examine.

The Swift I am restoring has come with a keel after all. However I am missing all the bit for lifting it ie screw and keel attachment brackets + all the winding parts that sit on top of the keel box. Any ideas as to how I could source these? If I have to have them fabricated is there drawings availa...

Thanks a mill. Just got a S18 that I am going to restore. Just trying to sort out what I have and what is missing at the moment. I will, no doubt, be asking lots of questions over the coming months.
