Re: Lifting outboard bracket
Hi Peter - most ingenious. I have been thinking about how best to raise and lower . my outboard for some time and would certainly appreciate parts list and dimensions etc. I also use a Honda but mine is a longshaft with battery charging facility which is great but If I want to beach I need to raise ...

Headlining replacement
I renewed mine on Curlew about 5 years ago and it is still like new. I posted the method used and suppliers on this site. Essentially using the removed headlining as templates (but you could make new templates from paper) I replaced the whole lot by gluing the new headlining to prepared marine ply l...

Fitting a boarding ladder
I've decided to fit a fixed boarding ladder after managing for some time with the aluminium hook over type. The ladder I have bought has fittings to attach to the transom but I would appreciate advice from anyone who has fitted one /has one fitted The gap between the skins in the back locker is pret...

Hi I have had a duet fitted for the last 4 years. The depth part I have bonded to the inner side of the hull within the space under the washbasin The log is sited in the rear lockers close to the forward bulkhead. This puts in in front of the outboard. I think trying to site it in the outboard well ...

solo sailing
I sail both single handed and in company around the south west out of Fowey. Find single handed no prob so long as sensible about conditions and amount of canvas up Like others I have main & genny led back to cockpit and agree reefing from cockpit is fine if you stand on the keel box - means having ...

Re - lining
Hi I used Hawke House when I fully refitted Curlew. They were most helpful, have all the bits like covered buttons, and the product is first class. Headlinings are not too much of a problem as they are on Ply except for 1 piece but I must admit I chickened out of gluing directly onto the sides. Inste...

Outboard Location
Does anyone have any current experience of hanging their outboard off of a rise and fall bracket on the stern rather than on the internal transom. I have a 5hp Honda which operates ok on the raised transom I have put in but it does take up so much room in the boat. I am thinking of putting the outbo...

Insurance
I've now finished renovating Curlew and relaunched her at Fowey in August after 20years standing on the hard at Fowey. WhenI bought her she was in a miserable state so I only insured her for £1000 with Saga. Fully refurbished inside and out with electrics added supporting VHF Nav lights GPS Plotter ...
