On mine, the genoa halyard is 13 metres and the main was 16 metres when cleated to mast, but I replaced with 20 metres so it could be led back to the cockpit & some to spare. Both 8mm braided polyester.

It's well worth checking out other possible causes of leaks such as deck fittings and windows before you go to a lot of effort. I can report that the rope-stopper beads threaded onto the halliard above the shackle are still doing a reasonable job in preventing wrap after several months use

I think my genoa may be a bit oversize (for coastal sailing at least) as I frequently need 3-5 rolls of furling to keep the boat balanced in say Force 3-4. Measurements are Luff 6.05m leech 5.80m foot 3.35m and PD 3.15m making it 134% overlap (J=2.35m) Does anyone know how these measurements compare...

Thank you for that Rob, I have the later type so I shall have another go at fitting the halliard diverter when the mast is next down (not keen on bosuns chair method suggested in the manual!)

I measured Redbug's mast over winter and it was 8.1m excluding windex etc, so that tallies with the comments above.
