I'm just about to redo the headlining etc and having stripped all the foam and vinyl from the coachroof, I've exposed the chainplates. They seem very close to the windows and I was wondering if it was worth the bother of tying them to the hull somehow. Perhaps extending the backing plate and then us...

If you have the chrome Barlow 15's, which I think were standard fitments, then they are easy to take apart, requiring no tools, and there are only a few 'small' parts inside, most of which will stay attached when you open them. Attached is a service guide for these winches.

I'd be interested in that as long as I can get the relevant weekend off! Still finishing an extensive refit at the moment but will hopefully will have the boat ready soon and was planning on a visit to Rutland to make sure she floats ;)
