Re: Serial number

Hi Steve,
This was discussed some time ago probably on the old Yahoo group and I don't think anyone has ever found a number on the hull.
So I guess your serial number is 79!
I'm treating mine as the sail number,191!
Cheers

Re: Curious about Swifties demise

Well done Bob & Mike, it sounds like a lot of work but it will all be worth it when you get her on the water, shame the seasons almost over!
Good luck.

Hi, Mine is 2ft, but if you want to steer whilst sitting under the spay hood to keep dry when its raining, then another 6 inch would help! :D

Re: Sprayhoods

Hi Rick, I just picked up my new sprayhood from www.starcovers-leeds.co.uk Local to me so took my old cover which they used as a template, and I'm reusing my old frame. Cost £325 cash, I've got to check the fit and mark the exact position for the holes which he will then punch for me. I wont be doin...

Re: Lifting from trailer

Hi Martin, I build cradles to lift and support Vega off the trailer, the rear one supports the boat under the skeg with pads under the hull to stop it tipping. This has worked ok with no apparent flexing. Have you tried placing the jacks under the bulkhead? It may not be suitable because of the doub...

Re: Water in the bilges

Hi,
There is a small gap, sometime ago I remember someone had fitted an inspection hatch in the floor, to remove water from between the skins.

Re: Bunk cushion thickness and foam type

Hi Tom, I just replaced the foam in the side bunk cushions on Vega, I got 3" foam to fit in the original covers but I guess you could go to 4" if replacing the covers as well. I got the firmest foam they had (ebay seller) and am glad I did,the old foam was gone where you sit all the time, new stuff ...

Re: Solar panels and regulator

Hi Martin, The isolator switch needs to be able to handle the maximum current of everything electrical on the boat turned on at the same time, regardless of the battery rating! These are rated at 100amp which will be more than enough, and are cheap enough! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BATTERY-ISOLATOR-...

Re: Solar panels and regulator

Hi Martin, You shouldn't need a voltage regulator for a small solar panel, the battery will act as a regulator. I have a small solar panel wired via a fuse directly to the battery so it is always connected, an isolator switch disconnects everything else when the boat is not in use and I always have ...

Hi Andy, Which mast have you got? Mine is the tapered (Holt?) as supplied with the earlier boats. There is a plastic fitting in the end of the spreader secured with a self tapper through the small hole, see pic. I think I would be inclined to make new plugs for the end from hard plastic or aluminium...

Hi David, Sorry I can't help you with a sail but try this PDF from Kemp sails about using a cruising chute. http://www.kempsails.com/technical-data/11-using-a-cruising-chute/file.html This is how I have mine rigged. I also have a spinnaker pole, with uphaul and downhaul, which I use to pole it out o...
