Re: Keel pins snapped

My keel pin has just snapped this morning.
Can anybody tell me how long the pin should be as I will have to get a new one made?

I would just like to thank you for all your hard work in keeping this website going. It is a valuable resource for all of us who own Swift's.

Kingsbridge Estuary

http://www.swift18.org/Swift18/phpBB2/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1483 We have owned Count Down for just over one year now and enjoyed some fantastic days sailing her in the Kingsbridge estuary. We live just five minutes’ walk down to the quayside where she is moored, nose end ...

Mast and Genoa Sheets problem solved

While sailing Count Down, I notice one very irritating thing. The genoa sheets keep getting stuck around the cleats that are fixed on the mast, this is probably due to me not getting my tack changes exactly right and the length of sail past the mast doesn't help. If you are very careful when going a...

Thanks for this tip. I reckon this should be on the top ten list of to do's I greased up the screw before putting her in the water, back in March but last week the winding gear became very stiff. I had thought I would tie a rope underneath the keel and then wind the screw down which would lift it ou...

Cockpit Cushions

Thanks for that, I've done the deed now though. The guy has been and measured up and he is going to make them fit with the small angled bit at the stern up to the outboard hole as well. His revised quote is £120, the material cost is half that, so I dont think I am being charged too much. Would I, c...

Cockpit Cushions

In case anyone else is interested I had quotes varying from £250 - £120 from 7 different companies for making these. The local upholsterer won the deal at £140

Keel a real Success

Well that was really easy. They left me alone for an hour with the boat hoisted high The boatyard had a great bit of kit for liftup, I had greased up the mechanism through the inspection hatch, but I was surprised how good the screw and bush operated, no play and nice and smooth. I feel very confide...

I have just done a deal with the boatyard.
They are going to lift it with a couple of slings with their adapted fork lift truck on Saturday for the morning for £35. That seems a reasonable answer in the circumstances.

Thanks guys,
Countdown is in a boat storage place, even assuming I was as brave as that to do your circus trick, I cant get the bits there to do that, if only it was in my drive.
Looks like its do a launch and crane it out at the end of the year for a wash scrub and paint.

Antifoul the keel?

Anyone got any bright ideas how to antifoul the keel?
I cant think of any simple way without getting the boatyard to do a lift off the trailer with their crane.
Nearly ready to go for a sail
