Re: anti-fouling

We're wondering whether to take advantage of gaelforcemarines offer of 2X 2.5litres International Bottomcoat for £55-anyone any experience of this product. If you can wait until November, I'll let you know what it's like :) I've given it a go for this season. Gael Force Marine is only 20 minutes fr...

I think I would change to back to 'Kylescu Fairy', or perhaps it should have been 'Kylesku' but, either way - it's a clever name that raise a smile ,and lot more romantic then the alternative ' Kylesku Bridge' ! :) Whatever you decide to name it - hope you can look forward to a good season's sailing...

I think the position of the mainsheet on the Swift is one of its few bad design features. I'm far less bothered by any need to fit a system with a traveller to allow more rig tuning, more to just get the mainsheet out of the way. It really is a pain when there are a few folks on the boat. Before I g...

I'm with the same company, insured for approx the same amount but have no no-claims yet, as we only got the boat in October.

I'm paying just over half of your quote but, and it's quite a big but , in insurance terms anyway, our boat is moored at a pontoon in a harbour.

Well if the 5hp honda doesn't fit 'out of the box', I'm sure it could be made to fit with some minor engine transom mods. My belief that the Honda engine won't fit in my boat is based purely on the fact that the previous owner was going to get one, until he measured the space available to fit it in....

The Honda is no doubt a great engine, just discovered it won't fit in the well on our boat though. X(

For some reason the last of the Swifts seem to have smaller wells.

I'd just like something a bit quieter and less smelly than the old Yamaha 2 stroke

Which engine?

Who likes what?

If I was going to to splash out of a nice shiny new 4 or 5HP four stroke, what would be the pundits choice?

Yamaha
Suzuki
Tohatsu
Mercury/Mariner
Honda
or another?

Does the fact that Windermere seems to have expanded mean that it will be cheaper to moor there next year? The one thing your photo shows is that it is important to leave the guide arms in place, and also secure the craft to the trailer, and always remember to anchor your trailer securely. ( I would...

Well, regardless of the legalities of leaving the guide arms in place, our boat is home. 1300 miles driven , more fuel than I care to add up, and a terrestrial form of jet lag :) Trusty Saab proved as reilable as ever. Only mantainance required en-route - one low beam head lamp bulb. Gale force wind...

Seems the RAC also consider it too wide. I wonder how many Swift owners are paying for a recovery service, that they would find denied them, should they actually need it. Bit like a lot of insurance really :( Strange how you can tow a Swift legally, yet none of the recovery services seem willing to ...

Actually, I don't know if I want to go here but a swift has a beam of 2.41m so shouldn't be towed by a vehicle of less than 3500kg GVW. Not quite so. The Swift itself may have beam of 2.41 metres but ( and it's a big but ) the law relates to a maximum trailer width, for a vehicle of less than 3500 ...

Thanks for that Terry. One of the reasons I ask is that I would reckon that, if you consider the guide arms as part of the trailer, then I would have thought that with them in place then it must be close to, or just beyond the 2.3m maximum that it's legal to tow with a 'normal' car. Could you take t...
